This was mine and my husband’s first trip to Waiheke Island and Pip made it a truly wonderful stay. Andy is an excellent chauffeur 😊 The communication was excellent right from the initial contact for information about the Romantic Getaway Package to our arrival with guidance on which ferry to book and recommendations of where to go. All the little extra touches at the lodge make it truly memorable and the stunning breakfasts each morning are a great way to kick off a day of exploring.

Excellent B&B in Waiheke We’ve been traveling for 4 weeks in NZ, and the Waterfront Lodge was the best accommodation of our trip. The hosts (Pip and Andy) were extremely helpful and friendly. The ocean view was incredible as were the gourmet breakfasts prepared by Pip. The room and bath were very spacious and well laid outThey even drove us from and to the ferry marina. Just great!!

This property is listed as a lodge, and the views are lovely, but my experience was overshadowed by the owner’s awful behavior. We booked two rooms for 3 nights for a family of 4. This was supposed to be the tail end of our wonderful trip to New Zealand. On our first night, we returned from dinner about 8:45 pm and decided to all sit in the living room/lounge area to continue enjoying each other's company and the place. It was very cold (see the picture of the actual weather that evening), so we looked around and turned on the floor heating and the fireplace. There were no signs to do so anywhere. Three of us went to bed about 9:30 pm, and my sister stayed up to finish a chapter in her book before going to bed. At 9:55 pm, the owner (Pip) came by and then told her she was turning off the fireplace and floor heating. She then berated her for being disrespectful and turning these on. My sister was caught off guard and apologized (6 times, the owner later told me when I spoke to her about how my sister was treated). The owner told her that there was a gas shortage. My sister told her that she was unaware since we live out of the country. Either way, she stood looking at my sister with her hand on her hip while my sister teared up as she continued to profusely apologize. Only after this did it become clear to that this was also the owner’s personal home (who live upstairs) and that guests were expected to treat it that way. There is also a small window in the corner of the 2nd floor that looks down into the lounge living room from the upstairs living area. Because the property was listed as a lodge, I felt this was not made clear before booking. If I had understood that we were renting rooms inside the owner’s home, I would not have chosen to stay here. Because of this unkind confrontation, we were asked to leave early and requested a refund for the remaining two nights. We were told a refund would only be given if the rooms were rebooked. I did not find that to be a fair or practical solution, given that we had booked two rooms. We were also afraid of being berated for committing a faux pas and using anything else, like the hot tub or other amenities, because of what occurred, so we would stay in our rooms after we got back from day trips on the island. The owner also said she would apologize to my sister, but didn't. The website promises tranquil comfort and warm hospitality. But if you are cold and want to be in the common area, dress very warmly or stay in your room. According to the owner, the fireplace is just for display, and she said she should tear it out to prevent future incidents. I suggest she tear out the unkindness from her cold heart. For the price, I did not feel this stay was worth it. In my opinion, the property is beautiful, but that did not make up for what I experienced as poor communication, a misleading setup, and dismissive, abusive treatment of guests. I would not recommend staying here. *** Update - March 13th Pip, your response confirms our family's experience. You did not apologize to the person you mistreated in person as you said you would. Sending me an email after we had already spoken about your treatment of her does not count as an apology. The only bizarre thing here is that you told me you did not care if we wrote a review about our stay, yet here you are. It is clear you are not used to guests pushing back and holding you accountable for your behavior. The world does not need any more mean or rude people, especially in a field centered on hospitality. I stand by my review. I would not recommend this place. I want guests to know they are renting a room in someone’s personal home, and to be aware of the treatment we received. I hope this helps other guests.

Terrible experience We did a lot of research because we wanted to visit during the best weather so we came during summer. We arrived on 3/3 and departed on 3/6, on the first night there was a cold spell. We looked at the weather app and it said it was 12° outside, but it said that it was more like 2° because it was very windy. We were in the living room area and it was very cold. I even had a wool sweater on. We turned on the floor heating and wall fireplace. Nowhere were instructions not to turn anything on. In fact, the switches to both had the names of them. I was reading a book when the owner, Pip passed by and told me she was turning off the fireplace. She looked mad and told me in a mean tone that I was being disrespectful to those that lived there and to the other guests. It caught me off guard and I apologized several times. She got closer and then proceeded to tell me about the gas shortage on the island and that if I was cold, I should’ve told her. We didn’t even know she lived on site. Second, we’re adults. Who asks permission to turn on the heat, especially when you’re paying top dollar for a room? I apologized again and again. I hung my head and put my hands up to my face. I went to the room upset. I couldn’t sleep and neither did my sister. The rest of the stay was very uncomfortable for all 4 that stayed in 2 rooms. She could have used kind words and tone and achieved a better outcome and not ruined our stay or had this negative review. Do Not Recommend.

Misleading and uncomfortable stay We stayed here from March 3rd to 6th, booking two rooms for a family trip and to celebrate my birthday on March 5th. The property itself is beautiful, with spacious rooms and lovely views, but the experience was completely ruined by the owner’s behavior. One of my biggest issues is that this property is presented on the website like a hotel or lodge, but that is not how it felt in reality. During the incident, Pip, the owner, made it clear that this was her home and that guests were expected to treat it as such. We also saw two dogs on the second-floor balcony, which further confirmed that the owners live on site. Guests are essentially renting rooms inside the owner’s personal home, and that was not made clear before booking. Had I known that upfront, I never would have stayed here, no matter how luxurious it looked. On the first night, we returned from dinner and sat in the shared lounge area since we had booked separate rooms. It was cold, so we turned on the fire pit and floor heater. There were no signs, written instructions, or communication telling guests not to use them. Later, Pip said there was an electricity shortage and that nothing should have been turned on. Had that been clearly communicated, we never would have used anything. The issue was not the rule itself, but the complete lack of communication and the way it was handled. My sister stayed behind to finish reading and planned to turn everything off before returning to her room. Instead of addressing the situation politely, Pip came out and aggressively berated her, telling her she needed to respect other people’s things and home. My sister apologized repeatedly, but Pip kept going. She came back to the room extremely upset and shaken. It felt hostile and like outright bullying, and from the way she handled guests, it gave the impression that this is behavior she has gotten away with before. My sister also observed Pip being rude and dismissive to two other guests during our stay when they were excited about seeing the lunar eclipse, which made it seem like this was not a one-time incident. That same night, we emailed asking for a refund for the remaining two nights so we could leave and stay elsewhere. Pip said she would only refund us if the rooms were rebooked. I explained that this was unrealistic because we had booked two rooms, and if only one room was rebooked, we would still be left paying for the other. We were simply asking for a fair solution so we could move on and enjoy the rest of our trip. At that point, I honestly do not understand why she would not just refund us and let us be on our way. Pip also said she would personally apologize to my sister, but she never did. Instead, she avoided us for the rest of the stay. The final email exchange only happened after I confronted her and she backed down. Even then, the apology was nowhere close to sincere and was not directed to my sister the way Pip said it would be. The biggest issues were the misleading website listing and Pip’s hostile, dismissive, and unprofessional treatment of paying guests. For the price, this stay was absolutely not worth it. A beautiful property does not make up for being treated so poorly. I wanted to post the video from our conversation as well, but the website does not allow video uploads. I have attached pictures instead, including the lounge area, fire pit, and floor heater, which show there was no signage or warning that guests were not allowed to use them. I also attached our email exchange. Pip states that she does not care if we leave a bad review. This review is meant to help future guests better understand the type of accommodation they are booking and what they can expect from their stay. The website should also clearly state that the owner lives on site, so guests have a more accurate understanding of the accommodation before booking. I also hope the owner learns from this feedback and improves the experience for future guests. I would not recommend staying here.

A perfect getaway spot for a long weekend! Pip and Andy welcomed us so warmly, and the views of the water were absolutely stunning. The breakfasts were delicious, and we loved relaxing in the spa. The location is ideal—just a peaceful 15-minute stroll to restaurants and shops while being on a quiet stretch of road. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

A little piece of paradise We can’t add much to the superlatives lavished on the Waiheke Waterfront Lodge and its gracious and competent hosts Pip & Andy except to say they’re all true! Our high expectations based on these reviews were more than met during the course of our 4 night stay. The Losge is a gem located in a stunning quiet location, yet a 10 min stroll to several good restaurants. It is impeccably appointed and run, with every amenity you could ask for and a well appointed garage gym which we made good use of. Pip’s yummy breakfasts outside on the back deck are a real treat and Pip herself is unobtrusive but readily available and helpful. She lined.up an all day taxi for us at the last minute so we could go to the far side of the island for wine and olive oil tasting and sightseeing. Great recommendation Pip! We would love to return and are envious of those of you who have this memorable experience to look forward to!

Wonderful BB We spent 3 delightful nights at the Waiheke Waterfront Lodge and recommend it highly to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful location. Pip and Andy are excellent hosts, the rooms are spacious with all sorts of special touches to make their guests comfortable and Pip’s breakfasts are delicious. It was nice to be in a quieter part of the island but an easy walk to the main street in Oneroa for restaurants and shops.

Hidden gem on Waiheke Island What a wonderful 5 day stay at this little slice of heaven. Lived up to everything we expected. Personal yet private. Outstanding gourmet breakfast every day and always ready at the promised time. Owner Pip was a delightful hostess and helped us navigate the island, restaurant reservations and hooked us up with a very special wine tour. I’d give it six stars if they let me.

A great spot with great hosts! We stayed two nights immediately upon arrival from the States to kick off our three week visit to New Zealand. What a great decision. Andy and Pip were fantastic, providing exactly what we needed in a very casual and comfortable manner was none of the pretentiousness that is sometimes present and high-end properties. Our room was large, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfasts were fantastic and the property had many no-charge “extras” (bicycles, hot tub, library, snacks, drinks, etc.) to choose from. I highly recommend this property for anybody staying on Waiheke Island.

My wife and I stayed here in December 2024 for our honeymoon. Truly a five-star experience at this small boutique, bread and breakfast like Lodge. Pip and Andy were truly the best hosts and the breakfast that Pip prepared every morning for the guests was top notch. Birds chriping, sun shining, and the cool, refreshing air coming off the bay was the best way to enjoy my "long black" coffee. Cheers to you Pip and Andy - keep doing what you're doing!

Terrific stay at the Waiheke Waterfront Lodge We had an exceptional experience at the Waiheke Waterfront Lodge. Pip and Andy were terrific hosts. Pip was able to answer our questions before we arrived, and Andy met us at the ferry terminal and made arrival a breeze. The property is beautiful, and it is a very short walk (10-15min) to the main town on Waiheke. Pip’s breakfast was also terrific - don’t miss it. I’d recommend this property without hesitation, and we would gladly return!

Spot on! Pip and Andy have got everything right… Good communication before we arrived with helpful welcome sheet and then when we arrived a lovely welcome and a a few tasty complimentary treats. The rooms and views are super and it is so quiet but just a 15 minute walk or short drive to the nearest restaurants and shops. The breakfast is a feast and fills you up until your evening meal and very well cooked and prepared by both. Pip suggested where we should go for our day trip and with her guidance we covered most of the island in 5 hours including olive oil and wine tasting whilst taking in beautiful scenery on our little road trip. She also suggested two restaurants which were excellent, without her help we wouldn’t have got so much out of it. The house is beautiful and clean and cannot be faulted but what makes this, is Pip and Andy, as you can tell they take real pride in what they do and it shows in every aspect. So overall not too shabby at all 😉

My wife and I have just returned from five nights at Waiheke Waterfront Lodge and greatly enjoyed our stay. Pip and Andy were exceptional hosts. Andy welcomed us by picking us up from the ferry port. Pip cooked delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit, yogurt and hot dishes, and provided excellent recommendations for our walks and restaurants. Our spacious room looked out to a bay and was more than fully equipped and stocked. The view and peaceful atmosphere provided the perfect escape. We explored Waiheke Island using the Lodge loan car, e-bikes, and by walking some of the well-posted trails. The Island is picturesque, the wineries are great (Mudbrick and Man O War were our favourites!) and the dinners we had at Oneroa, only a short walk away were delicious! Highly recommend staying at this superb lodge.

10/10 recommend staying at the Waterfront Lodge in Waiheke! From the pickup/drop off at the ferry terminal, to the delicious breakfasts included, wonderful rooms with a view, and the amenities, it is simply wonderful. Great location, walking distance to the main strip and beaches, rent one of their e-bikes or cars to explore the rest of the island. Pip & Andy are the most wonderful hosts!

Heaven We had two wonderful restful days here. Pip and Andy are generous hosts, from collecting us from the ferry, to cooking wonderful breakfasts and providing excellent recommendations for sight seeing, food and even for other places to see in NZ. Our room was spacious, looked out to shallow bay and was more than fully equipped and stocked. Spotlessly clean. We took the restaurant package with taxis provided to lovely restaurant 20 minutes away. The town of Oneroa is 15-20 minutes stroll from the lodge making dinner on night two also very easy. I could go on but suffice to say if you book here your expectations will be met and exceeded.

Beautiful lodge on the water, excellent service and breakfast. We booked our room as we got on the ferry and called the car service at the lodge for the free ride to the lodge. Andy was at the ferry when we arrived from Auckland. Wonderful. Our room was perfect with a view of Black Pool Bay. The staff could not be nicer or more helpful. Other guest we spoke with felt the same. Breakfast was wonderful and free! We can’t say enough good things about the lodge.

Pip and Andy were the consummate hosts. Andy picked us up at the ferry and shuttled us to their property, which is situated on a quiet nook on Huruhi Bay. They pay attention to every detail, and their hospitality and generosity is infectious. We kayaked and rode bicycles around the island, and we even rented their car for a drive to the eastern coast of Waiheke prior to our departure. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced, bespoke destination that is walking distance from the primary shopping/dining area and situated in a quiet, relaxed environment, look no further than Waiheke Waterfront Lodge.

Andy and Pip were amazing hosts, and my wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary as a special surprise treat. From being collected form the Ferry, to the amazing breakfasts, to the easy borrow of fab electric bikes this place has everything. The little touches were great too - honesty bar, nibbles and drinks in the room, just made it feel luxurious, but also very homely. Really recommend this place. The whole experience and beautiful sunshine we had for 4 days made it like a beautiful getaway. Thanks Andy and Pip we'll be back. Steve & Bridgette

Perfect beginning for a honeymoon My wife and I stayed at Waiheke Waterfront Lodge for the first stop on our honeymoon in New Zealand on 4/6-4/7/23. Andy and Pip were wonderful hosts, and their property is beautiful, clean, and perfectly located on a quiet street with a stunning ocean view. They were very helpful and generous in recommending activities and making sure that our stay was a special one. We weren't expecting much of the breakfast, but it was truly delicious on both mornings of our stay. The coffee was great, too. Get the flat white! Highly recommended!!

We stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. From the moment Andy picked us up from the ferry terminal to when we left in the early morning with Pip’s takeaway breakfast sandwiches, we loved our stay. Easy walk to shops and restaurants, and we used their e-bikes to get to restaurants and some vineyards. The hot tub was perfect for fall weather. The quality of the gym they built far exceeds the vast majority of gyms in hotels. If you get the chance, stay here if you come to Waiheke.

Pip and Andy did a great job making my wife and I feel welcome on our honeymoon. Beautiful, clean rooms with abundant space and a great little indoor sitting area to look at the bay. Breakfast was as good as going out to any cafe and dietary restrictions are considered. Their E-bikes were a perfect way to see the Western side of Waiheke Island and made for a great day. We also indulged in their in-room massage which was incredibly convenient and relaxing. I would recommend this Lodge to anyone looking to step up their accommodations on the island.

Excellent from start to finish We had 3 night stay in this extremely beautiful and well run boutique lodge. Room was large and of a very high standard in terms of decoration and furnishings with lovely views of the waterfront. Gourmet breakfast of an excellent standard. From the time of pick up from the port to the time of drop back at port few days later, Pip and Andy couldn’t have been better hosts. Highly recommend staying at this superb lodge.

The most amazing hosts! Wow…….just had a fabulous 3 night stay at Waiheke Waterfront Lodge! Andy and Pip are the most amazing hosts…….from picking us up at the ferry (our first stop after arriving in NZ for a month!), beautiful rooms and grounds, the most delicious 2 course breakfasts, use of a loan car, to making bookings for us for dinner…….they went above and beyond to make sure we had the most wonderful visit! The view was beautiful……the wineries were great (Batch, Stonyridge, and Man O War were are favorites!) and dinner at the Oyster Inn was delicious! Waiheke Island and Andy & Pip was the perfect way to start our NZ adventure…….can’t thank you enough!

Luxurious seaside BB This place has much more the feel of a B&B than a hotel; much more welcoming, personal and homey. It’s an easy 12-15 minute walk into the village. The room was extremely quiet and faced the ocean (photo - I believe that’s true of every room). Andy picked us up from the ferry and dropped us off, and Pip makes a wonderful breakfast. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Our king bed was quite comfortable. My only concern would be on a very muggy night - there is no A/C, just a ceiling fan. Great stay.

Whether it was pick us up/dropping us off at the ferry, cooking us breakfast (food was amazing) or supplying us with those little things we forgot to pack, your service was impeccable. We look forward to staying with you guys again and we highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for an amazing experience while on the island. Thank you. Paul and Michelle

Fantastische kamer met uitzicht op zee en heerlijk bedden. De douche is super groot. Alles was top verzorgd.

First class accomodation! Just spent a wonderful 3 nights at the lodge. Hosts Pip and Andy are top notch, professional inkeepers. The lodge is a beautiful modern structure that sits across the road from the bay. The views from the rooms are great. Pip prepares a delicious breakfast for guests. Includes homemade muesli, yougurt, fruit, coffee any style, egg dish (omelette, burrito, fritatta) , smoothy, juice and toast. Pip gives great guidance on walk / trail selection. Just tell her how long you wish to go for, and she will draw it out on the map. There is a compete gym setup in the garage. Everything you could want to work out. Electric bikes are available as well. The common areas of the lodge include dining room, living room, den and very nice backyard with jacuzzi. The rooms are spectacular. New furnishings, nice beds, rain shower, and other amenities. Highly recommend!

Beautiful accommodation My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend vacation and we loved it. The room was very large, lavish, spotless and the bed was super comfy. Wonderful views and large opening windows on to the beach front. The breakfasts were amazing and the property and garden were beautiful. The hosts were friendly, amazing, helpful, very professional and give us great privacy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a lovely place to stay. Location is excellent and a close walk to Oneroa village, Waiheke's main hub. Heaps of equipment to use from the lodge ie. E Bikes and Kayaks. Thanks very much.

The most amazing place to stay. A week to remember and treasure. We have travelled extensively both overseas and NewZealand over the years. This lodge is without doubt one that has the most fantastic owners who are also the hosts. Pip and Andy made our total stay an experience that one could not fault in any way. The friendly arrival, the home cooked breakfasts, the loan car,the recommendation of good restaurants and booking of them for us. Our room had amazing views of the bay and was spotless and cleaned everyday. Our hosts could not have done anything more for us it was a real pleasure to stay here and recommend others to go and stay there. The atmosphere is amazing and the place is extremely quiet. Thankyou so much Brian & Jane.

5 star relaxing accomodation My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Waiheke Waterfront Lodge for two nights. The experience exceeded our expectations. The rooms where amazing, the service was outstanding and the breakfast was top class. So many added bonuses like e-bikes which we had loads of fun on, complimentary snacks and wine. You could not ask for better hosts who were there when you needed them but also gave you space. Highly recommend the waterfront lodge for your Waiheke get away.

True 5* luxury and service. If you want to treat yourself and experience true 5* service book into Waiheke waterfront boutique lodge where Pip and Andy will delight you. We visited Waiheke for the first time for my ladies special birthday and I’m so glad I chose Waiheke waterfront lodge as our base. Pip was so helpful in making arrangements and useful suggestions to make our trip enjoyable, really can’t thank her and Andy enough. You will be delighted by the rooms, view, location and facilities, they really have thought of everything, the breakfast was a delight and freshly cooked. The room was perfect and best of all the level of attention was perfect, there if you need anything or just wanted a chat but also discreetly apart so we really felt like we had this glorious place to ourselves. Treat yourself to the romance package it’s worth it. Thank you so much Pip and Andy. Dax and Jax

A gorgeous place to stay We loved our stay with Pip and Andy. They are the most friendly, helpful and considerate hosts. The rooms are hugely spacious with great views and light and airy with everything you need - as is the whole lodge. It’s so gorgeous! The garden is beautiful- private peaceful and birdsong. Pip and Andy make you feel so welcome, nothing is too much trouble and they have thought of everything to make your stay easy and comfortable. So many kind and thoughtful touches. We kayaked and used the ebikes and even borrowed 2 hats! This kind of generosity of spirit is a rare thing - we really do hope we can get back sometime

Best Accomodation in Waiheke Absolutely loved our stay with Pip & Andy! They are incredible hosts, warm and hospitable making for a relaxing stay. The lodge itself is wonderful- the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the furnishings are on point- the bed is fantastic with a few pillow options to suit! The highlight of the stay has to be the breakfast that’s provided daily - take my hat off the hosts - Pip is a fab cook & Andy makes a wicked cup of coffee! Couldn’t recommend our stay enough- we will be back!!

Ideal, a real treat! Ok, so it is pricey, but it is after all 5 star and immaculate. From the really helpful advice at booking and then everything throughout our stay, we were treated to excellent hospitality. Pip gave guidance on ferries, on dining, on drives and walks. The offer of transfers and then a rental car was a saving on taking our own across on the car ferry. All the facilities were there - too many to list so check their webpage. The location is wonderful, the furnishings lovely, and the breakfast every bit the gourmet treat. I could go on....... You should just check it it out for yourself, and be delighted as we were.
